So what is an "archetype"?

The Definition of "Archetype"

An archetype is a universally recognizable pattern or symbol that represents fundamental aspects of human nature and exists in the collective unconscious.

The Origins of the word "Archetype"

The term "archetype" originates from the ancient Greek words "arche," meaning "original" or "first," and "typos," meaning "imprint" or "pattern." The term was first coined by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who introduced it as a concept within analytical psychology.
